This choir leads the music for congregational singing at one Liturgy on each Sunday. It also leads the liturgical music at some special occasions and times such as: some celebrations of holy days, First Holy Communion, one Liturgy on Christmas Eve, one service on Good Friday, and one Liturgy on Easter. Choir membership consists of volunteers.
These are men and women of various ages, including teens, who sing both in unison and in harmony. Some members enhance the music with instruments, especially the flute and violin. For very special, festive occasions other instruments, such as the drum and trumpet, are included. The music is accompanied either on the piano or the organ. This choir practices at varying times, depending on the availability of the members. The choir director selects music for congregational singing from a hymnal and guide prepared by OCP (Oregon Catholic Press). The choices are based on the readings and church season. The choir’s repertoire consists of both traditional and modern church music.
New members are welcome to join the choir. Reading music notes is not a must, but is helpful. If one can sing and would like to join, please contact the church office.
